What is the pentatonic scale, and how do I play it?

What is it?

It's a scale with 5 notes per octave. There are different types of pentatonic scales, but we'll only discuss the minor pentatonic scale. It's the most popular variation, it's used in nearly all popular music.

How to play?

I'll show you the basic pattern:
